The Tuvalu Christian Church is a church of Tuvalu heritage in West Auckland. The church was established in 1992 and has been meeting in Henderson for many years.
The Church first partnered with Christian Savings (at the time named Baptist Savings) early in 2016 to work towards financing the construction of a new church building.
In 2019, after assisting with some budget advice, Jacobson Projects was engaged to construct this large bespoke auditorium for Tuvalu Christian Church. This church for the Tuvalu community is based on a traditional Tuvalu manaeapa, or meeting house. It took 17 long years to transition from dream to reality.
The curved roof shape added some complexity, but the building was still completed in 2020 in time for the long-anticipated opening, with congregation members joining the construction crew to finish the work.
This beautiful space for the Tuvalu Christian Church community recently won a Special Award and Silver Award at the Registered Master Builders New Zealand Commercial Project Awards.
